Who belongs and who doesn’t? That’s the central question of nationalism. During the 2016 and now, the 2020 Presidential election, the answer has frequently been white Americans belong and those of color or faiths other than Christianity, particularly Islam do not. But nationalism and the aggression that can be part of it is not confined to the United States. There’s evidence this phenomena isn’t confined within a country, but may be contagious, crossing national borders, creating discord at home and abroad. One such example is the subject of this week’s Challenge 2.0-Hindu Nationalism.
