In Episode 345 of Storycomic Presents, we're thrilled to feature the incredibly talented Mark Maia, an internationally recognized comic book writer and game designer hailing from London, Canada. Mark, a BAFTA winner known for his in-depth board game analyses on his YouTube channel Board Game Coffee, now ventures into the captivating world of comics with his latest project, 'So-Called Living.' Join host Barney Smith as we dive into the darkly comedic universe Mark has created, where the supernatural becomes the norm and life as we know it takes a turn for the extraordinary.
'So-Called Living' is not just any comic book; it's a dark comedy set in a reality teeming with vampires, werewolves, zombies, and humans (or "normies"), all coexisting in an oddly familiar world. The story centers on Jack, an average guy whose life spirals into chaos after a fateful encounter leaves him a vampire. Alongside a cast of uniquely written characters, Jack navigates his new existence, facing challenges and threats from the more unsavory elements of his newfound society.
With a narrative that combines the humor of 'Friends' with the tension of 'Breaking Bad' and the aggression of 'The Sopranos,' 'So-Called Living' promises to deliver an engaging and thrilling experience. Discover more about Mark's journey from game design to comic creation and support the 'So-Called Living' Kickstarter at So-Called Living.
