Comic Book Couples Counseling Podcast
Arts:Books
This week we jump into another Spider-Man comic that revisits iconic moments of continuity to deliver a deeper understanding of the relationship between Peter Parker & Mary Jane Watson. Originally published in "The Sensational Spider-Man" Vol. 2 Annual #1, "To Have and To Hold" by Matt Fraction & Salvador Lorroca is one of the most beloved single issues in modern Marvel history. For a couple that has faced many insurmountable odds, "To Have and To Hold" finds Peter & M.J. at one of their lowest points following the events of "Civil War" and acts as a vow renewal of sorts right before the company editorial swings in to magically annul their marriage with the controversial "One More Day." We continue our conversation using Dr. Alexander Avila's "Lovetypes" as our relationship guide, and we discuss what keeps these two together despite a world determined to tear them apart.
