When Robert Jordan died in 2007, he left the beloved epic fantasy series “The Wheel of Time” incomplete. But a moving eulogy written by emerging fantasy author Brandon Sanderson caught the attention of Jordan’s widow, Harriet McDougal. After reading just a couple chapters of Sanderson’s novel “Mistborn,” McDougal knew she’d found the author to finish her husband’s series.
But before Sanderson finished one of the biggest fantasy series of the 21st century, he considered giving up on writing altogether. Tyler and Hannah discuss his early life and education, many rejections, and the books that finally hit it big. Tyler’s also back with another conspiracy theory — get ready for the Jordan-Sanderson Paradox — and Hannah feels bad for a water bottle.
And Tyler’s fantasy sitcom “The Penny Lich” is out now! Order it online wherever books are sold (might we suggest our friends at The Book Nook?) and subscribe to Tyler’s newsletter so you don’t miss the next story in the series: https://mailchi.mp/29f1a174c134/pennylichjoin
