The point of The Prodigal Story isn’t what the father does with the younger son. It’s what the elder brother does with what the father does with the younger son. The Elder Brother has a spirit of self-righteous stubbornness, outrage, and superiority. It is this spirit holding us back from confessing and addressing racial injustice head on.
