Acquired brain injury survivor and past president of the San Diego Brain Injury Foundation Don talks about his recovery from a ruptured brain aneurysm.
Don was a Human Resource Executive for a high-tech company for 20 years before he suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and consequent aphasia in 1992. He was never able to work again.
"I was in a meeting. Went out . Boom -just like that, my whole life changed. I had a great job. meeting people. Life was good."
His neurologist's encouragement and Brain injury support meetings have helped Don's progress. "It took 10 months to read a [short] book." "We'd go golfing, and I'd laugh and joke. ..At least try."
"Jane [spouse] was there to help me the whole time."
"You can get better. It takes time."
