It began as a moral crusade. Once he became aware of the unfair conditions faced by female scientists in his field, Paul Walton couldn’t ignore them. Over the past 25 years, he has delivered around 150 guest lectures worldwide, championing gender equality in academia. He believes that openly addressing our biases is the crucial first step of a journey toward creating a better working environment for everyone and advancing research.
In this episode of Verapodden, we meet Professor Paul Walton, gender equality advisor at Chalmers and a professor of bioinorganic chemistry at the University of York, UK. (Introduction in Swedish, interview in English.)
