In 2018, Anna Eskamani ran a bold campaign to flip a Florida State Legislative seat from Republican to Democratic. Now this daughter of Iranian-American immigrants is sharing her story about why she ran for office, being true to herself, and why other should run as well. This is a particularly timely podcast as Anna offers her unique perspective on the ongoing issues in Iran and her hopes for de-escalation and peace, but also how her office has worked to help people from Iran and other places find a friend in Florida. She also discusses how her mother's battle with cancer motivated her and showed her the value of caregivers and the work that she is doing in the Florida legislature for issues like educational equality for everyone, especially LGBTQ families and students with disabilities.
