It quickly becomes clear that Grace is the sole survivor of a desperate mission dispatched in the hopes of saving mankind. It seems like humanity's future is resting on the success of the Hail Mary. John is diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome, and discovers that his life is not going to unfold in the way that he might have originally hoped. However, there is a ray of hope when Jeff discovers an antique doll that would sell at a high enough price to erase their debt. There's just one problem. Jeff is convinced that the doll has been stolen by young kid Max Mercer, who has been left home alone at Christmas. So Pam and Jeff concoct an elaborate plan to steal back the doll that is rightly theirs, not expecting the lengths that Max will go to to protect the family homestead.
