She is a Principal Consultant at WRc (Water Research Centre) with 14 years’ experience in the water industry, specialising in holistic source-to-tap solutions to achieve multiple benefits. She is also currently the SE Area Chair of the Institute of Water, leading a team of volunteers to plan great events for members. To further her own development, Kirsty trained as a Professional Registration Assessor to conduct reviews and interviews of future professional registration applicants and sits on the Institute of Water Environmental Panel to ensure a consistent approach is applied to all applications.Rich Deaville is a Chartered Environmentalist via ISEP with over 20 years of experience across a wide range of built environment projects working in consultancy, client and Main contractor roles. I've worked on a variety of different projects from small scale refurbishments to large national projects with a range of environmental and sustainability challenges and opportunities. Currently I'm working as a Senior Environmental Advisor with Burns & McDonnell who are a 100% employee‑owned engineering and construction firm that helps design and build the infrastructure that keeps communities running. Building on her academic background, her career has spanned knowledge transfer, training and skills across various technical disciplines. Having established the Energy and Efficiency Industrial Partnership and playing critical roles in creating two Skills Academies, Emma became the Chief Executive of the Society for the Environment in 2015. She is Chair of the IOM3 Sustainability Development Group, a member of the UK Government’s Green Apprenticeships Advisory Panel and a Board Member of the Future Water Association.Rebecca Hearn CEnv is co-director of Murray Environmental Limited and works in the land contamination field, with experience working on a range of former and active industrial sites including gas works and military sites. She is passionate about knowledge sharing and is an active member of the IES and the Society for the Environment Soils and Stones project team. As well as being actively involved these professional bodies Rebecca volunteers time to Midlands Lands Events (MidLE), Setup by Hearn and Midlands colleagues to support knowledge sharing amongst land professional in the midlands (UK).Chantelle Brandwood REnvP is a sustainability consultant and the Founder of Eco Action. Her aim is to help businesses make sustainability simple, by cutting through jargon and focusing on what drives real impact. Her work spans carbon management, science-based targets and life cycle assessment, turning complex data into clear plans, practical next steps and progress you can track.Tom Cheek has worked for over 20 years within a Further and Higher Education college, specialising in technical education and apprenticeships, with responsibility in delivery, quality assurance, technology enhanced learning and compliance across a wide range of sectors. Before SocEnv, Tom worked at the Science Council, with a key focus on connecting science disciplined apprenticeships with new routes to professional registration, recognising the experience and skills educational pathways deliver. The work has required collaboration with professional bodies, employers, apprentices, educational policy makers and other stakeholders, promoting the value of professional body engagement and the benefits of professional registration.Professor Ian Barker HonFSE CEnv is an independent consultant and commentator on water management, regulation, policy and governance. He is an Honorary Fellow and Vice chair of the Society of the Environment Board. A Chartered Environmentalist with over 35 years’ experience, he had overall responsibility at the Environment Agency for water planning, regulation and management. Jane was instrumental in establishing the European Compost Network, which she chaired for a number of years; she is currently vice-chair of the ISWA Scientific and Technical Committee. Jane has been involved in the waste and resources sector for over thirty years. She has experience in bio-waste recycling, standards and certification schemes having set up the UK certification scheme for reclaimed parts from end-of-life vehicles—recycling organics to soil, compostable/biodegradable packaging, waste management qualifications, and health and safety. Dr. Adam Read MBE, Chief External Affairs & Sustainability Officer, Suez UK Adam is a member of the Suez UK Management Board having joined the company in 2017 after a successful career in academia, local government and environmental consultancy spanning over 30 years. He was awarded an MBE in the Kings Birthday Honours List in June 2024 for his contribution to the evolution of the resources sector. He has co-led SUEZ’s engagement with Government on policy reforms facing our sector, working extensively with the sector trade body the ESA and sitting on environmental think tanks including the Aldersgate Group, the EIC and the Green Alliance’s Circular Economy Task Force on future policy, regulation and best practice guidance. Laura is a Chartered Environmentalist, a Full Member of ISEP, and an EMS Lead Auditor.Dr Sheryl Lee CEnv, Senior Analyst - Waste and Recycling, WRAP is a Chartered Environmentalist and Chartered Resource and Waste Manager with over 25 years experience across academia, government, industry, and the third sector. At WRAP, she leads on waste data modelling and policy analysis, helping shape national strategies for recycling and resource efficiency.Her work supports UK Governments and industry stakeholders with evidence-based insights, whether it’s forecasting infrastructure needs, mapping plastic waste flows, or evaluating the impact of Simpler Recycling regulations. Sheryl has co-authored reports like the Glass Roadmap 2024 and led transnational research on circular economy initiatives.She holds a PhD in Local Authority recycling and has worked across enforcement, consultancy, and academic research.
