In today's episode, you will hear the third of four sessions in a series titled Bonhoeffer and Christian Nationalism. This powerful program is led by renowned theologian Dr. Douglas Meeks, who brings lessons from the past to both warn and guide us today. Meeks leads discussion about historical documents that demonstrate the faith of some Christians during Nazi Germany as they watched the rise of fascism overtake society. Today, we are reminded of what we can do here and now to live fully the teachings of Jesus Christ. This series is brought to you from Brentwood United Methodist Church's faith study programs, and includes references from the Barmen Declaration, A New Yorker article titled, Can American Churches Lead a Protest Movement? And the following books all written by Dietrich Bonhoeffer: The Cost of Discipleship  Letters and Papers From Prison Life Together Through wisdom and faith in Jesus, may we become enlightened as to how we can act in our personal and collective lives to rise above authoritarianism.
