We are joined by Ted, Pobs and Steve who fished aboard NED, the winning boat in the Calcutta Competition! The boys tell us the story of their weekend and how they caught a big fish in an unusual way that netted them a $140k prize! The boys were super deserving winners, have great individual stories and came together at the last minute to form the winning combination!We also run through the rest of the Competition which was a lot slower than in previous years, including lots of other prize winners, our own efforts to catch 3 Tuna across the weekend and announced the winner of the Socorro 10,000 from Shimano!We also have all the news in SA fishing, including:An update on the Algal Bloom and how it is now impacting Port Hughes. He talks us through some of his successful years, why he loves the competition and how he is preparing for this weekend's competition. Andy really sums up what is great about the Port Lincoln Tuna Classic, he competes really hard on the water and then enjoys the social side of the event, having a drink and bantering with other competitors as much as anyone!We are also lucky to be joined for part of the news segment by Asher Dezsery from RecFish SA to discuss the announcements made by Peter Malinauskas in the lead up to the election. Asher fills us in on what is planned for the new Recreational Fishing Authority, what RecFish can do with further funding over the next 4 years and also touches on what the Opposition has proposed if they are successful and also an update on tagging of fish for future rounds of the Let’s Go Fishing Competition!We also explain a competition we are running for our listeners to celebrate the Port Lincoln Tuna Classic, we are giving away a Shimano Socorro 10,000 (which is also our tackle item of the week) for whoever can get ‘closest to the pin’ of how many Tuna our boat will catch over the 2 day weekend! He is able to tell us about his own fishing journey, discuss what to expect on a day out fishing for Barra or in the Blue Water and also discusses the iconic Million Dollar Barra Competition. There are 11 Million Dollar Barra and a further 82 tagged fish worth $10k each still swimming around, with a further $100k up for grabs for the biggest of these tagged fish caught throughout March. This is an epic comp and something we would love to enter one year!We also have a wrap up of our week fishing around Black Point on the Yorke Peninsula as well as looking forward to the Port Lincoln Tuna Classic in a couple of weeks. He is the RecFish SA Director for the Riverland and Reservoirs and has caught more Callop and Murray Cod than most! He has recently been involved in tagging a lot of fish for the ‘Lets Go Fishing Competition’ and also presented in the recent RecFish SA Forum on all things freshwater fishing. He is also heavily involved in the Lower Murray Lure Fishing Club and also tells us about some of his Saltwater catches to show his versatility!Some of our listeners have got around our push for some more listener engagement and have sent in voice messages.
