For many years I've been writing very short pieces that are musings on the passing scene, taking on the serious dilemmas of our time in personal and laugh-aloud ways. The trick has been to end with a positive twist on the dilemmas we are all facing. I wish to show how all this pain and negativity is our opportunity to shift focus and change how we live in the world.

Ecstatic Relations: Duke

May 7th, 2025 3:00 AM

"Dukie simply arrived at our house one summer evening—just like that." Welcome to Season Five of Carolyn North Out Loud. This Season is the audio companion to Carolyn's book, Ecstatic Relations which came out in 2006, and like a lot of her message was before its time. It presents true love stories from real life—not just romantic but all kinds of capital L love and attraction. Each story is wonderfully written in exquisite detail, drawing you in and bringing you back to your own stories of love. Each piece has a sort of Commentary after it, in the tradition of The Talmud, discussing an aspect of universal law addressed in that story. You'll see what is meant by being ahead of her time.
