285. Better Together – Co-workers of Paul: Epaphroditus

Mar 18th, 2024 2:30 PM

This episode on Philippians 2:25-30 presents one of the Apostle Paul’s co-workers, Epaphroditus, as a powerful real-life example of having “the mind of Christ.” A trustworthy Gentile believer, he was a layman sent by the Philippian church to deliver a love gift to the imprisoned Paul in Rome, then stayed to serve as Paul’s brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier—risking his life through serious illness “for the work of Christ” without regard for himself. Paul commends Epaphroditus highly, sends him home with honor, and urges the church to receive him with gladness and hold him in high esteem, showing that true greatness is found in humble, selfless service for Christ rather than position or fame.

286. Better Together – Co-workers of Paul: Onesiphorus

Mar 19th, 2024 2:30 PM

This lesson looks at Paul’s faithful co-worker, Onesiphorus, who was particularly useful in any situation—helping Paul in “many things”—and was bound to the apostle and stuck by him when others did not. After faithfully ministering to Paul in Ephesus, Onesiphorus then boldly traveled to Rome, diligently sought Paul out in prison, refreshed him often with kindness and presence, and was “not ashamed of my chain” despite the mortal danger. Paul’s prayer for Onesiphorus at the Judgment Seat of Christ, when rewards will be given to members of the Body of Christ for faithful service, presents Onesiphorus as a powerful example for believers today to courageously stand unashamed with Paul and the gospel of grace.

287. Better Together – Co-workers of Paul: Luke

Mar 20th, 2024 2:30 PM

In this episode, Luke is presented as the Apostle Paul’s faithful companion and physician who provided the practical help Paul needed amid his constant beatings, shipwrecks, and infirmities. A skilled historian and author of the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts, Luke humbly joins Paul’s team in Troas, travels with him through Philippi, Jerusalem, and the stormy voyage to Rome, and stays by his side during both Roman imprisonments. Called “the beloved physician” and “fellowlaborer,” Luke remained with Paul to the very end (“Only Luke is with me,” 2 Tim. 4:11)—when others forsook the apostle—using his medical skills and devoted service to sustain Paul’s ministry and comfort him in his final days.

288. Better Together – Co-workers of Paul: Titus

Mar 21st, 2024 2:30 PM

This lesson highlights Titus as the Apostle Paul’s trusted associate through many challenging ministry assignments. As a Gentile Greek saved under Paul’s gospel of grace, Titus boldly stood with Paul in Jerusalem to defend Gentile liberty from the law, was sent to Corinth to deliver Paul’s corrective letter and later oversee a generous offering for the Jerusalem saints, and was left in Crete to organize the new churches, ordain elders, and confront false teachers with bold authority. His selfless, forward spirit—evident even in his final ministry in Dalmatia—made him Paul’s partner and fellow helper, modeling joyful service and steadfast faithfulness for members of the Body of Christ today.

289. Better Together – Co-workers of Paul: Aquila and Priscilla

Mar 22nd, 2024 2:30 PM

The key to a good marriage is to work together and communicate well. Two of the Apostle Paul’s co-workers, Aquila and Priscilla, worked in unison to form a godly husband and wife ministry team. We learn here that this remarkable duo met Paul in Corinth as fellow tentmakers. Aquila and Priscilla then opened their home to him for 18 months of training in the grace gospel, traveled with him to Ephesus where they hosted a house church, and even risked their lives to save Paul during the Ephesian riot. Their faithful partnership—marked by hospitality, teamwork, and selfless service—continued across cities and years, earning Paul’s heartfelt thanks and serving as an enduring example for believers today.
