Crossing Wires in Neuroimaging

Feb 1st, 2022 5:29 PM

In this episode Jazz Munitz and Mallory Stellato sit down with Dr. Gaurav Verma, Senior Scientist in High Field Neuroimaging here at the BioMedical Engineering and Imaging Institute, who optimizes and develops MRI techniques for neurophysiological diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Verma works in MRI techniques for a wide array of neurological conditions, including neuro-oncology, multiple sclerosis, COVID-19, and depression, epilepsy - as he puts it "if it affects the brain, we'll probably do it at some point".

Kidney Imaging, Unfiltered

Jan 5th, 2022 7:57 PM

ImagingNation, brought to you by the Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Institute at the Icahn School of Medicine, strives to provide insight to audiences of all backgrounds to past, present, and future principles of imaging, medicine, and biomedical engineering. In this episode, Jazz and Mallory are joined by Dr. Octavia Bane, Assistant Professor of Radiology, and Dr. Sara Lewis, Associate Professor of Radiology, to discuss the world of kidney imaging. Here, Dr.'s Bane and Lewis describe new MRI imaging techniques that are empowering clinicians to diagnose, treat, and monitor kidney health in patients.

Low Field, High Impact

Flexible Biosensors for Every Body

Dec 15th, 2020 12:26 AM

In this episode Jazz Munitz and Mallory Stellato sit down (virtually) with Dr. Woonhong Yeo, Assistant Professor in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering and Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Director of Center for Human-Centric Interfaces and Engineering at Georgia Tech. Dr. Yeo, who designs soft biosensors for neural recording, explains the path of his interests, and how his background in mechanical engineering has led to development of technology to utilize robotic peripheral devices and flexible sensors in providing patients with motor control disorders new levels of mobility, independence, and agency.
