Ep. 263: 1 Timothy For Dads - Week 1

Jul 10th, 2026 8:00 AM

What does the book of 1 Timothy have to teach today's Christian dads? In this first episode of our new six-part series through 1 Timothy, Kent and Lawson explore Paul's opening letter to Timothy and uncover timeless principles for biblical fatherhood. Rather than getting lost in theological debates, they focus on what matters most for dads who want to lead their families with wisdom, humility, and love. You'll discover why love—not perfection—is the goal of biblical leadership, how to become a better student of God's Word, and what it means to faithfully disciple your children in a culture filled with competing voices. Whether you're a new dad or have been leading your family for decades, this conversation will encourage you to approach Scripture with confidence and lead your home with purpose. In this episode: • Why Paul wrote 1 Timothy—and why it still matters for fathers today • The biblical foundation for leading your family well • How to study the Bible without overcomplicating it • The difference between teaching information and discipling your children • Why faithful fathers don't have to be perfect—they simply need to be obedient If you're ready to become a more intentional, Christ-centered father, this series is for you. We hope you'll stick with us through the next few weeks as we discover the wisdom for dads in 1 Timothy. Want to shape the direction of the show this year? Ep. 262: Representative Josh Brecheen On The Secret To Discipling Your Kids As A Busy Dad

Jul 3rd, 2026 8:00 AM

What does it take to raise children who genuinely love Jesus—even when life is busy and demanding? In this episode of Father On Purpose, Kent Evans and Lawson Brown sit down with U.S. Congressman Josh Brecheen to talk about biblical fatherhood, family discipleship, identity in Christ, and why no career is more important than leading your family well. Growing up on an Oklahoma ranch, Josh learned firsthand what it meant to work hard, honor God's Word, and build a lasting family legacy. Today, despite the demands of serving in Congress, he still prioritizes daily Bible study with his children, Scripture memory, and intentional conversations that point them to Christ. In this conversation you'll learn: • Why discipling your kids can't be outsourced to the church • How busy dads can still make meaningful time for their children • The importance of building your identity in Christ instead of your career • Practical ways to establish family Bible study and Scripture memory • Why your greatest legacy will never be your job—but your family • What Josh wishes he had done differently as a father Whether you're raising toddlers or teenagers, this episode offers practical encouragement and biblical wisdom to help you become the intentional dad God has called you to be. Jun 12th, 2026 8:00 AM

What does it look like to play offense as a dad? With Father's Day around the corner, Kent and Lawson challenge fathers to stop thinking of themselves as recipients and start thinking like leaders, investors, and disciple-makers. In today's episode, we draw from Hebrews 12, Philippians 4, Psalm 119, and Ephesians 6, and unpack practical ways dads can intentionally lead their families toward Christ instead of simply reacting to whatever life throws at you. In this episode, you'll learn: Why Father's Day should be about giving, not getting How small moments of time with your kids create lasting impact Four key Bible passages every dad should know Why passivity is one of the biggest threats to modern fatherhood How to lead your family with purpose, confidence, and spiritual direction Whether your kids are toddlers, teenagers, or grown adults, this conversation will encourage you to take the next step toward becoming a more intentional, Christ-centered father.
