160 - MCU Rankings Continued: The Multiverse Saga

Sep 14th, 2025 12:00 PM

Send us a message that we can respond to at the end of every episode! It’s Part II of our DEFINITIVE Marvel Cinematic Universe movie rankings. This time we tackle the ongoing Multiverse Saga. For all the bad, there are arguably some of the best movies Marvel has EVER made in this saga (Thunderbolts, GoTG vol 3.) and you’ll get to find out which one of us puts the cape on for The Marvels! This isn't just another casual ranking. We dive deep into what elevates certain Marvel films to greatness while others falter, examining everything from directorial vision and character development to villain effectiveness and emotional impact. Our conversation spans from the bottom-tier entries (sorry, Thor: Love and Thunder) to the untouchable pantheon that includes Infinity War, both Guardians films, and the surprisingly powerful Thunderbolts. Before that, we talk about some news and the baffling idea that someone said NO to Steven Spielberg. 159 - Ranking the Infinity Saga: From Iron Man to Endgame

Sep 5th, 2025 12:00 PM

Send us a message that we can respond to at the end of every episode! After 30-some-odd movies, we have finally decided to formally rank the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We throw our personal feelings and lists aside to concoct the DEFINITIVE MCU Movie rankings for the Podcast. For this episode, we ran through the Infinity Saga so look forward to part 2 next week. From the revolutionary impact of 2008's Iron Man to the unprecedented spectacle of Endgame, we meticulously analyze what makes each Marvel entry special - or where they fall short. Is Captain America: Winter Soldier's political thriller approach superior to Guardians of the Galaxy's cosmic comedy? Does Black Panther's cultural significance elevate it above the original Avengers? We debate the iconic moments, standout performances, and narrative innovations that transformed superhero films from popcorn entertainment into legitimate cultural phenomena.  Before that, we tackle some light news items surrounding the various video game film adaptations coming our way in the next year or so. 158 - A Brotherhood vs X-Men Fantasy Draft

Aug 21st, 2025 12:00 PM

Send us a message that we can respond to at the end of every episode! This week we talk about the Fallout Season 2 trailer, the Duffer Brothers seeking greener pastures at Paramount and Greg Fraser potentially not shooting the Batman Part 2 because of…the BEATLES? Our main focus though is the X-Men and sports. What do we mean? Journey with us as we assume the roles of Professor X, Magneto and a third more robotic party as Apocalypse and have ourselves a good old fashioned mutant draft! The draft divides mutants into three categories: physical-based powers (like Wolverine and Colossus), mental/psychic abilities (Jean Grey, Emma Frost), and elemental/energy-based powers (Storm, Iceman, Gambit). Each team must balance raw power with tactical advantages, resulting in surprisingly diverse rosters that showcase the incredible depth of Marvel's mutant catalog. This was a fun episode to record. 157 - "Fantastic Four: First Steps" Review & Discussion!

Aug 7th, 2025 12:00 PM

Send us a message that we can respond to at the end of every episode! After a couple of weeks off, we present our review and spoiler filled thoughts for Fantastic Four: First Steps! We venture to Earth-828, a retrofuturistic world where Marvel's First Family shines like never before. This isn't just another superhero movie. It's a cosmic family drama that captures the essence of what makes these characters special. Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards steals the show as a brilliant mind caught between genius and emotional distance. The film doesn't shy away from his darkness, showing us a man who calculates the mathematics of saving billions, even at terrible personal cost. This complexity makes him the most compelling Reed we've seen on screen. Vanessa Kirby's Sue Storm emerges as the powerhouse she deserves to be, not just with her incredible abilities but as the diplomatic and emotional center keeping the family together. Joseph Quinn brings unexpected depth to Johnny Storm, creating genuine connections with the Silver Surfer that lead to one of the film's most powerful moments. Ebon Moss-Bachrach's Ben Grimm serves as the team's emotional anchor, having made peace with his transformation while still carrying its weight. What are your thoughts on this fresh approach to Marvel's First Family? How do you think they'll factor into the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday? Share your theories and join our conversation about the ever-expanding multiverse of fandom! 156 - Marvel's First Family: The Fantastic Four's Rocky Road to Marvel Studios

Jul 19th, 2025 12:00 PM

Send us a message that we can respond to at the end of every episode! What happens when Hollywood repeatedly misunderstands what makes Marvel's First Family work? Fantastic Four: First Steps is upon us! With just about a week until maybe the most consequential MCU movie since Infinity War, we look back at the struggles that Marvel’s First Family has had in live action. From the (purposely) unreleased 1994 film, to the somewhat cult classics of the mid-2000’s, to the doomed Fant4stic, we examine what these movies got wrong and what we THINK First Steps will have gotten right when it’s all said and done. We explore a fascinating 30-year saga of missed opportunities, financial maneuvering, and creative missteps. From the never-released 1994 Roger Corman production to Tim Story's colorful but flawed 2000s duology to Josh Trank's disastrous 2015 reboot, the Fantastic Four's journey to the big screen reveals much about Hollywood's evolving relationship with comic book source material.Thank you to everyone who continues to support and don’t forget to subscribe to download new episodes as they become available and don’t be afraid to share a rating!0:00 Intro04:25 The Troubled History of the Fantastic Four in Film07:14 The Unreleased Fantastic Four (1994)09:11 Fantastic Four (2005)31:36 Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)47:57 Josh Trank’s Ill Fated Fant4stic (2015)56:21 Fantastic Four Post Fox (Dr. Strange and Deadpool & Wolverine)01:01:35 Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025)01:26:00 Signing Off!Topic for Next Week: Fantastic Four: First Steps REVIEW Email the pod at projectinfinitepod@gmail.comTweet us/Follow at https://twitter.com/ProjectInf_PodSubscribe on Youtube at https://www.youtube.com/@projectinfinitepodFollow on FacebookFollow on Instagram at theprojectinfinitepodFollow Court’s Film on Instagram @untilnexttimefilmTwitter for Rob https://twitter.com/R_Peck0628Twitter for Courtney https://twitter.com/courtkid123In the wake of the tragic death of Power Ranger actor Jason David Frank, from this episode on, the number for the Suicide and Crisis Prevention Hotline will be displayed here: 9-8-8.
