The Hackwells
In this episode of The PIX podcast, host Jill Lyons interviews The Hackwells, who will be performing at the PIX on April 22nd at 7:30 pm. The band consists of Larry Everhart on harmonica and lead and background vocals, John Dobat on songwriting, singing, guitar, and banjo, Brian McCarty on guitar and band choreography, and Jeff Schott on upright bass and vocals. The band started playing together in 2009, and Larry joined them in 2016. The band's name, Hackwells, is a made-up word, and they call themselves "musical hacks" who do it well. All members of the band have been musicians since they were young. Carl talks about the difference between the Great American Songbook and scat singing, and how they are both considered jazz.
