Built For Glory

Mar 3rd, 2026 8:23 AM

We often ask, *“What is my purpose?”* and rush to our gifts, careers, or what makes us happy for the answer. In **“Built For Glory”**, Pastor Dom O’Connell takes us back to Scripture to show that our deepest purpose is not something we invent, but something we receive. From Genesis 1 we see that we are created, intentionally, in the image of God—set apart from the rest of creation to reflect who He is. Isaiah 43 then reveals why: we were **formed for His glory**. Our identity isn’t rooted in what we can do, but in whose image we bear and whose glory we live for. Building on this, Colossians 3:23 shows how our purpose plays out in real life: *whatever* we do is to be done “with all our heart, as for the Lord.” Pastor Dom challenges us to let Scripture form us (not just confirm us), to take sin seriously because it distorts God’s image in us, and to stop tying our purpose to our skills, job titles, or fleeting happiness. Instead, we are invited into a lifelong, practical pursuit: bringing glory to God in every facet of our lives—home, work, relationships, money, and the unseen moments when no one else is watching.

Christ At The Centre

Feb 23rd, 2026 8:25 PM

In “Christ At The Centre”, Pastor Alex Brompton walks through Galatians 6:14–16 to show that our deepest identity is not built on what we do, what we own, or what others say, but on what Jesus has done at the cross. Using simple images—from ID badges to a warped reflection in a spoon—he exposes how easily our sense of self can be distorted by success, failure, mood, or season of life. This message invites us to lay down both pride and false humility, and to see ourselves through the clear lens of Scripture: loved, redeemed, adopted, and called. As we anchor our lives in Christ’s finished work rather than in shifting circumstances, we discover true freedom and become more fully human—more like Jesus—living out God’s purpose with confidence and peace.

Vision Sunday

Feb 16th, 2026 6:12 PM

On Vision Sunday, Pastor Dom encouraged Assemble Church to reflect on where we've been, where we are now, and where we're going. Celebrating God's faithfulness through growth, generosity, and experimentation, we looked at the real numbers that tell the story of a vibrant, mission-focused church family. The word for 2026 is 'Ownership'—not just of a physical building, but of the Great Commission and our shared purpose. With focuses on building an invitational culture, strengthening pastoral care, and fostering genuine partnership, we're called to deeper engagement and greater responsibility. This is a year to move from “a church I attend” to “my church.”

Justified, Not Improved

Feb 9th, 2026 4:01 PM

This week in our Galatians series, we explored Paul's bold declaration that we are justified by faith alone—not by following the law. Pastor Samantha O'Connell unpacked the meaning of 'justified', challenging us to move away from self-effort and toward a transforming relationship with Jesus. It’s not about ticking religious boxes; it’s about trusting the One who has already done it all. We journeyed through the importance of repentance, not as an added requirement, but as the natural outworking of real faith. The law shows us our need—but only Jesus can save. Whether you're just starting your faith journey, reconnecting after some drift, or needing to re-centre on grace, this message calls us all to true freedom and a life lived for Christ.

The Gospel : No Debate

Feb 2nd, 2026 7:01 PM

In this Galatians sermon, Pastor Dom explores the true gospel of Jesus Christ and exposes modern false gospels that quietly distort grace and truth. The Apostle Paul’s warning to the Galatian church is more relevant than ever: there is no other gospel, and it does not bend to culture, opinion, or preference.
