The Supreme Court Fights Against Water Rights Part 1

Aug 9th, 2023 6:03 PM

In this episode, we discuss the Supreme Court Case Arizona v. Navajo Nation, 2023, and how the Supreme Court is reinforcing centuries of state-imposed violence on the Navajo Nation by their ruling. In short, the Court ruled that the US Government has no duty to provide water to the Navajo Nation, despite the reservation facing an active humanitarian crisis. The Navajo Nation is as large as the State of West Virginia and has a population of roughly 174,000 people. This podcast is dedicating to deconstructing the Supreme Court's arguments, and solidifying the need for the US Government o provide reparations to indigenous communities, including providing water infrastructure. Jul 5th, 2023 3:42 PM

Joe Biden and Joe Manchin negotiate a deal to force the Mountain Valley Pipeline to be constructed despite overwhelming evidence it is not economically viable and will cause significant environmental impacts. The deal was snuck through the Debt Ceiling Relief Bill, which also included significant changes to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). These changes limit the Federal Governments ability to conduct environmental reviews, and open the door for the oil and gas, and other industries, to conduct business with significantly less oversight.
