PRESIDENTS' DAY WEEKEND - "NOT GUILTY: HOW JOHN HINCKLEY SHOT A PRESIDENT, WALKED FREE & ENDED UP ON YOUTUBE"
Reid Carter closes Presidents' Day weekend with the assassination attempt that changed American law. March 30, 1981: John Hinckley Jr. fired six shots at President Reagan outside the Washington Hilton — all to impress actress Jodie Foster. Reagan nearly died. Press Secretary James Brady was permanently disabled. Secret Service agent Tim McCarthy took a bullet to the chest. Hinckley's trial shocked America — jury found him not guilty by reason of insanity after seven hours. Public outrage rewrote insanity defense laws in 34 states. Hinckley spent 35 years institutionalized before full release in 2022. Now posts music on YouTube.Join our new FB groups page here. Take the poll!Join the Celebrity Trials community on social media! PRESIDENTS' DAY WEEKEND - "THE TRIAL OF JACK RUBY: THE MAN WHO KILLED KENNEDY'S KILLER ON LIVE TELEVISION"
Reid Carter covers the assassination that broke America and the murder trial nobody expected. November 22, 1963: Lee Harvey Oswald shot President Kennedy in Dallas. Two days later, nightclub owner Jack Ruby walked into the police basement and shot Oswald on live television — the first murder broadcast to a national audience. Fifty million Americans watched a man die in real time. Ruby's trial lasted two weeks. Defense claimed psychomotor epilepsy caused a blackout. Prosecution said premeditated murder. Jury deliberated two hours — guilty, death sentence. Ruby appealed, won a new trial, then died of cancer before retrial. Justice denied.Join our new FB groups page here. PRESIDENTS' DAY WEEKEND - "THE MADMAN WHO KILLED GARFIELD: CHARLES GUITEAU'S CIRCUS TRIAL & THE DOCTORS WHO REALLY DID IT"
Reid Carter covers the most bizarre assassination trial in American history. July 2, 1881: Charles Guiteau shot President James Garfield at a train station because God told him to — and because Garfield refused to make him ambassador to France. Garfield lingered for 80 agonizing days while doctors probed his wounds with unwashed hands, feeding him through his rectum when he couldn't eat. Guiteau's trial was pure chaos — he sang hymns, insulted the judge, called witnesses idiots, and argued the doctors killed Garfield, not him. Medically, he was right. The jury didn't care.
