Do We Really Want to Defund the Police?

Before we begin, I want to say I'm sorry. Somewhere in this I'm likely to piss you off. I want you to know I'm not doing it intentionally. It is absolutely not my goal. I hope to help heal a bit. I hope to make helpful suggestions. I hope to share some ideas. I hope to bring just a few of us together for a little while.

But, this topic is causing more division than I have seen anything cause, even in 2020, which has been characterized mostly by anger at each other. I can't address this topic meaningfully without upsetting someone, somewhere.
