137: Aleksis Nikitin: Tioman Island, Malaysia

In January of 2019, 20-year-old Finnish backpacker, Aleksis Nikitin traveled alone to Tioman Island—a remote tropical paradise off the coast of Malaysia. Only days after arriving, he was reportedly planning to hike through the rainforest to a secluded waterfall. But sometime that day, Aleksis disappeared. Back at the home where he was staying, his belongings were left behind—including his passport and wallet. There was no sign that he had packed up, no indication that he planned to leave the island, and no explanation for where he had gone. Search teams combed the jungle. Dogs reportedly picked up his scent along a trail.  But then…the trail went cold.
