As we are on the last part of The Book of Esther, we see that the hand of the king, Haman, manipulated the king to write a decree to kill all of the Children of Yisrael because they didn't "bow down" to him (and other things that were against their laws) and this made him mad enough to want to kill them all, so he made sure that they would all suffer and die, however, The Most High did not permit such a thing to happen and Haman's thirst for the death of the children of Yisrael was turned right to him and his family. The Most High also compelled the king to enact laws that would protect the children, and then they were preserved at that time in the kingdom of Babylon.
