Marlene holds a Master of Science degree in Human Behavior & Health. She is a certified master hypnotist and considers herself a subconscious behaviorist and had a private practice for many years. At one time she worked as an investigator for a state-level agency (that shall remain unnamed). ​

She was born and raised in Miami, and founded Miami Ghost Chronicles in the 1990s. She always worked as a freelance investigator with different research foundations or paranormal investigative groups. She still consults with different groups throughout the United States.
