Hope Fellowship Church Jan 6 – 12, 2019 ========== This Year I Will... ========== 2 Timothy 2:1 You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, 2 Timothy 2:2-7 and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also. Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops. Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything. · As a good soldier · An athlete · The hard-working farmer Deuteronomy 6:1-3 "Now this is the commandment—the statutes and the rules—that the Lord your God commanded me to teach you, that you may do them in the land to which you are going over, to possess it, that you may fear the Lord your God, you and your son and your son's son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be long. Hear therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do them, that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey. 1. This year I Resolve to follow God in greater Obedience. a. That the fear of the Lord might always be present in you and your children b. That your days may be long c. That it may go well with you d. That you may multiply greatly Deuteronomy 6:4-6 "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 2. This year I Resolve to have a greater understanding of God’s character and nature. a. The first command is not “do” but it’s “love”. Deuteronomy 6:6-9 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. b. God says, “See Me and know Me well enough to teach others” 3. This year I Resolve to trust God for the next steps in my journey.
