Imagine being told “you’ve lost your crown and glory” because you’re losing your hair.
Ouch! Talk about insensitive! Well, those were the words Dominique Claire heard from a hairdresser when she was just 16 years old.
Dominique has alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease that impacts the hair follicles. But, hair loss can happen to anyone at any time, for many reasons…sometimes as early as our teens. Roughly 95% of hair loss in men is caused by androgenic alopecia or male-patterned baldness. And close to 50% of all women start losing their hair by the time they are 50. This can lead to feelings of insecurity and shame or even a heightened level of anxiety and depression.
Dominique was only five when she went bald. Sure, she has had years to embrace it, but that doesn’t mean she hasn't faced pain and loss…on many levels.
On this episode of HIListically Speaking with Hilary Russo, find out how Dominique found her truth through feminine embodiment and turned alopecia into her super power.
