The Old Testament patriarch Methuselah lived to be 969 years old, the oldest human being on record. But after that remarkable life, still, Scripture says, "and he died." Everyone, no matter their station in life, eventually dies. Death is indeed a fact of life.
For Christians this is not something to fear, for we will join the Lord in heaven, but it is something for which God expects us to prepare: spiritually - have we trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation from sin? and practically - have we taken steps to be good stewards of the assets--time, talent, treasure--with which God entrusted us? Setting up our estate plans via wills and family living trusts is one of the most basic and wise things we can do for our families and as a way of glorifying God.
Yet some 60% of American adults do not have a will, and some 30% have not looked at or otherwise updated their wills or trusts in years. On top of this, only about 9% of Christians actually leave something in their estate plan to benefit Kingdom values.
Preparing a will and living trust and then giving to the Lord's work makes us good stewards, something that please God.
