I pulled common threads:
- kids not listening = not cooperating
- kids having tantrums and whining = exhibiting emotion regulation and impulse control challenges
When it comes to kids not listening-cooperating, there are 2 emotional needs that we need to pay attention to:
- Attachment-connection
- Autonomy
I can suggest 3 ways to elicit cooperation:
- Strengthen connection
- Honor and give more autonomy (in what areas you can give more autonomy?)
- Decrease control (how can you do that?)
