Military service has a number of privileges. Outside of the pride of serving your country, military service can provide benefits that might be hard to acquire otherwise. Healthcare and education are two common reasons that people can join the service these days, but back in the 1940s, a lot of servicemen were enlisting to help with World War II. Joining the military means you are willing to do whatever it takes to protect the country from evil. Sometimes though, the country doesn’t offer the same protection.
