Meet Guapo, a Swainson’s Hawk at the Cascades Raptor Center

Mountain Rose Herbs sponsors five rescued raptors at the Cascade Raptor Center in Eugene, Oregon. We spent an afternoon recently visiting with one of them: Guapo, a handsome Swainson's hawk. This beautiful raptor was such a joy to spend time with!

Swainson's hawks are large, slender natives of the western plains. They are close in size and shape to our more common Red-tailed hawks, but have longer, narrower, more pointed wings, and a smaller bill and feet.
