Welcome to episode #106!
In this episode, Matt and Braden talk with author and podcaster, Sathiya Sam on the 3 pillars that he walks people through in their recovery from porn use.
Building self-awareness
We have to be aware of our behaviours, our heart posture, and our thinking patterns if we're going to get a deep-rooted behaviour like sexual addiction out of our lives. Self-awareness that is detailed right down to the details of how we act out to what kinds of thoughts we have towards God, ourselves, sex, and our sin is all extremely helpful to have in our journey to get free of sexually harmful behaviour.
Healing of the Heart
When our hearts get healed, freedom can reign. We all have things from various experiences we've had that negatively affect us. We have to pray for God to reveal which events have affected us and what the effects have been, so that God can work with us on the process of revealing and eliminating certain trauma-based behaviours we have. The heart is complex, but can be healed of things we didn't even know needed to be address when God is in charge of the process.
Establishing your true identity in Christ.
It's better to be 100% your true self than have even 1% of how you live not be the genuine you. When you start to live out your true identity in Christ, God will give you opportunities and others will start to see gold in you that you didn't even know was there.
Can you answer the question of who you really are?
Then, can you think of who told you that?
When you can get your identity statement from God and have it go deep into your heart, you start to live differently and have more security that's unchanging despite the circumstances in life.
