Like sports teams or politicians who think that the God of all Creation is on their side, Israel combines a casual confidence in God with a dash of self-reliance. It’s a dangerous mix – especially when they ignore His call to righteousness and justice. What they really need is God’s provision of a King who will refresh their hearts with righteousness… and so do we!
