As part of our nonprofit series, we sit with Kevin Wallner, a former personal trainer who now runs a nonprofit serving people who are currently unhoused. His journey from Washington to San Pedro involved overcoming some physical and mental challenges, meeting his soulmate and lots of personal growth. He found friendship and support in an unexpected place which led him to start The Restoration Project which actively serves our unhoused neighbors in the Wilmington Community. His teams approach to serving is not about fixing the problems of those on the streets but being available to them when they're in need. Currently they are a pop up event that takes place twice a month in Wilmington, serving food, providing clothes and hygiene products as well as free haircuts. The next big thing for The Restoration Project is funding a day center to provide additional resources for the unhoused community.
We really enjoyed our conversation with Kevin and hope you enjoy this episode.
