Pastors are Supposed to Make Judgements

Do you expect your pastor to make judgements about you? We would have no hesitation in saying "yes" to the question if we were talking about a doctor or a football coach of a piano instructor. We want those people in our lives because we want them to form us. We want the doctor to accurately diagnose our diseases and help us be healthy.

But we are unwilling to receive the same kind of treatment from a pastor. And, the truth is, many pastors don’t even believe they are supposed to make a diagnosis at all, let alone get involved in actually helping us heal. But that’s precisely what a pastor is called to do.
