Episode 165: Wild at Heart (1990)

This week at The Film Club we’re talking about the romantic crime drama, Wild at Heart. The film tells the story of star crossed lovers Sailor and Lula who are torn away from each other when Sailor goes to jail after killing a man who was attacking him with a knife. Lula’s mother was the person who hired the knife wielding man because she wanted Sailor out of her daughter’s life forever but Lula’s love for Sailor is unbreakable and she is there waiting for him when he’s finally released from jail. To make Lula happy Sailor decides to break his probation and travel cross country to take Lula to California. This journey becomes more treacherous when the lovers not only have to evade the police but also a private detective that Lula’s mother hires to track them down and bring Lula home. Things become more dangerous for all the parties involved when Lula’s mother in a state of hysteria also hires a gangster to kill Sailor in case the private detective can’t find the couple fast enough.
