In 1216, just before his death, English Monarch King John lost the original royal Crown Jewels. Were they lost to the landscape, buried beneath dozens of feet of silt and dirt? Or is it possible the jewels were intentionally misplaced? The tremendous loss of the crown jewels was perhaps karma for a king known for his cruelty.
