Exodus 21 contains God's commandments on slavery. Verses 20-21, for example, say that you may beat your slaves, as long as they survive for at least a day or two after the beating - because a slave is your money.
God also provides instructions for taking a second wife and selling your daughter - and tells you what to do if she fails to please her new master.
The chapter also commands parents to kill their children if they curse or strike them.
And it includes a passage that is as close as the Bible ever gets to abortion - saying that if a man causes a woman to miscarry, then the one responsible shall pay her husband an amount determined by the judges. Only if the woman dies is the punishment to be death.
