ALOHA! PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT WHAT I'M DOING šš¾ I APPRECIATE YOU!
Why am I doing this show? During my times of djing on base at Hickam AFB from 2003 until 2013, the crew of DJ's that I rolled with, we named ourselves "Uptown Productions" (Doc Jay, DJ DLD, DJ Lambchop, and myself), there were a few times in in those years when we put on a special presentation at the club. It was maybe one or two special occasions but one for sure that was special, came during the month of August. We always chose one Saturday night in August when we would "dress up" the club, bring in our posters, dress up in our special gear and make sure that we put the word out on all the airwaves lol. In August we always celebrated the birthday of Michael Joseph Jackson. The King of Pop. The G.O.A.T aka the World's Greatest Entertainer. We lost MJ in 2009 and I will never ever everĀ forget that day! But since then, I think my love and adoration of MJ's music and legacy has grown more & more. When I dig in the crates and I'm putting together an old school sett for a friend or for a mix for my Mixcloud or You Tube channels, I always go through all of my Michael Jackson songs very carefully. I listen to his voice more closely. I watch his videos more intensely. I listen to his interviews more intently. Michael Jackson has left this world. But to me he's still here. So in this episode, I wanted to try and break down the true legacy and bring more emphasis to what he did with his magnanimous recording of 'Thriller', and of course, I added in some other songs he did with his brothers when they were all The Jackson Five, and later on, The Jacksons. Ā The 'Thriller' LP was released on 30 November, 1982 but did you know that of the seven 10 Ten songs that 'Thriller' birthed - six of them were released in 1983. YES, SIX OF THE SEVEN TOP TEN SONGS FROM THRILLER WERE RELEASED IN 1983 - 40 YEARS AGO. This is why I'm doing this episode because I want to celebrate MJ's birthday just like I used to do when I was djing in the club with my friends AND I want to recognize what I think is the real 40th year of Thriller. I hope you can understand and appreciate the impact that Michael Jackson left on the world. He was a child music star, in his young years he starred in movies, and by the time he was 25 years, he had recorded what would become the biggest selling album in the history of music and in doing so, he would forever cement his legacy as one of the biggest music stars EVER in the world of music. I hope you enjoy this episode as I retrace some of the best songs from his catalog and celebrate the BIRTHDAY AND LEGACY OF THE G.O.A.T - HAPPY HEAVENLY BIRTHDAY MICHAEL JACKSON - WE LOVE YOU ALWAYS!Ā
