#85 - SoundKing Festival 2022: Eman and Tawa

In this episode, we talk to Eman and Tawa from SoundKing. Eman is the CEO and Founder of SoundKing Entertainment and Tawa is the Coordinator organizing SoundKing Fest 2022. 

We talked about the Afrobeat scene in Canada, the festival scene in Toronto after Covid, and how big festivals in the city have struggled to keep fans satisfied this summer.

Also, we discussed the unpleasant and oftentimes discriminatory politics targeting African artists seeking visas to perform abroad.  Finally, we talked about SoundKing Festival.

SoundKing Fest is a multi-non-consecutive day festival that promotes and gives Afro-Canadian artists a platform to perform and showcase their talents to the world. This year, SoundKing festival is going to  Sault Ste Marie on September 8th and coming to Toronto on Sept.17th. It will headline a variety of upcoming Afro artists. so make sure to check it out.
