A single voice can reach out to all those who sit in silence, and it holds that power. It is sometimes weird to say that when someone uses their voice to break down societal barriers, that it gives others permission to do the same. Afterall, we are all free agents who make the choice to speak up or speak out.
The truth is, when we feel like we are not seen. When we feel we are not represented. When we feel we are not heard. That permission, hearing and seeing someone owning their voice. It is the most potent thing in the world.
When we start giving voice to our lived experiences, in whatever way we see fit. We are not only granting ourselves freedom, we are also giving it to others.
I explore this with my guest this week, Katherine Gilmartin. An incredible human, artist, parent and Mental Health Activist. Using her voice to build a village of them.
