The NYT reports that Aaron Siri “argued that vaccines that blunt illness but do not prevent infection or transmission do not have an impact more broadly on the population, so individuals should be free to choose for themselves whether they wish to be immunized.” He included polio, tetanus, and HPV shots in this category.
