A Tapestry of a Diaspora
Episode 1 - 'Resilience' within the MENA community with KLAUW
A collaboration with Gyonne Goedhoop and TENT Rotterdam
In this episode, we spoke with Berk and Imane from KLAUW Collective about the unique challenges that (women) from the MENA community can face.
The session started with us watching the short film ‘The Truth Within’ by director Randa Nassar. This short film was recommended by the founder of ciMENA Film Club, Ibrahim Alaoui, who also spoke a bit about ciMENA and how this film club came to be. Important for us to also mention is that this conversation was recorded about two days after the occurrences in Afghanistan where the Taliban got the dominant power back in the US-led war. Killing and displacing even more Afghan people. Please check out the links in our linktree to see how you can support: linktr.ee/CombinedImpact
A Tapestry of a Diaspora is Gyonne's brainchild but brought to life by the collaboration with Combined Impact and all of the other collaboration partners.
Within A Tapestry of A Diaspora we ask questions about what the day to day strategies on resiliency are for different young, diasporic people (living in big cities like Rotterdam). In what ways are our different diasporas connected? What are the methodologies that we use in our daily lives to keep our joy going? To care for ourselves and others in our own ways? What are the ways these resilience strategies and projections can work for us or against us? Stay around and find out during the upcoming episodes.
