Melanie Gibb became Lori Vallow's best friend.  Jason Mow had mentioned them to each other. Melanie and Lori met and became very close friends, very fast. Melanie had already met Chad Daybell, and Lori was very interested in meeting Chad. The 2 women made a trip to a Preparing a People conference in St. George UT to listen to Chad talk  Lori became infatuated with Chad that day. It seems Chad worked his magic and was immediately working Lori and telling her about their past lives and marriages together.
