Silver Spoons: S5E16: Author Author and S5E18: Hero Worship

Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Together, We're Gonna Find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver Spoons Podcast. Today, I covered S516: Author, Author, which aired on February 23, 1987. In this episode Edward's ex-wife writes a novel about a woman's stormy relationship with a character to whom he bears a strong resemblance. Maybe Evelyn was trying to be the first one to come up with Fifty Shades of Grey, the book was apparently smutty enough. and S5E18: Hero Worship, which aired on February 16, 1987. In this episode The Strattons' new neighbor is a rookie basketball star, and Rick is thrilled wen he offers him some coaching and invites him to games. But the family is stunned when their new friend is suspended after a drug possession arrest. Felt like a decent after school special without all the hardness and examples of using or being under the influence. More telling and not showing sadly. We could have seen at least one of the basketball star being under the influence while teaching Rick how to shoot hoops instead of him learning about it in the paper, feels like kind of a cop out. In this episode When Kate's grandmother arrives with her new boyfriend, everyone is shocked that they are sharing a bedroom - especially after Edward just criticized Rick for going a bit too far with a girl while he was out.
