The Last of Us 2 — The Mycology of Cordyceps

In this episode we discuss the celebrity zombie fungus, Ophiocordyceps unilateralis. Its latest trending appearance being The Last of Us Part II— an apocalyptic video game where this fungus has evolved to infect human beings. This was produced by the Naughty Dog for PlayStation, and although we have never played the game, we just had to highlight this! We go over the mycology of this fungus and debate the likelihood of cordyceps evolving to infect homo sapiens.
