To summarise, this is the strategy I use:

Identify where your putea is coming from - how much, what frequency
Identify where your putea is going to - how much, what frequency
Decide on smaller more regular amounts you can put aside for bigger or annual costs
List all expenses on one page to have a good Birds Eye view
If there is any money remaining, decide on where this will go (align this with your values and goals). Or, if you are wanting extra money, start focusing on how you can increase your income.
