More About Mercedes

Mercedes Thomas, MSN, APRN, CPNP is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner, certified lactation counselor, maternal-child health consultant, and the author of "What in the Baby?!?: The Modern Mama's Guide to Confidently Caring For Your Baby and Surviving the Postpartum Period," which will be released in early 2021. She was recently awarded the 2020 Washington Parent Pick in the category of breastfeeding support. Mercedes owns a health consulting firm where she provides families, healthcare providers, and organizations with education and content focused on infant care, pediatrics, lactation, and postpartum.

Mercedes has over 12 years of nursing experience working in both the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), as well as, inpatient and outpatient pediatrics. Her mission is to combine her nursing expertise with her experiences as a mom to provide evidence-based education to families to help simplify parenting during the first year and reduce healthcare disparities. Mercedes also serves on several national committees in an effort to improve infant feeding practices and access to quality healthcare.
