Rod Demery spent many years working as a homicide detective for the Shreveport (Louisiana) Police Department, and he retired in 2016. Rod now works as a special homicide investigator for the district attorney’s office. He is also a United States Navy veteran and served in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield. As if all of that wasn’t enough, Rod is also the star of hit tv show, Murder Chose Me, on Investigation Discovery. Murder Chose Me features Rod telling murder stories in his own words, as well as reenactments provided by a very well-chosen cast who deliver these scenes in a gripping way that really pulls you into the story.
When Rod was just three years old, his mother was murdered. He was never really given the true story, so Rod took the investigation into his own hands 40 years later and actually solved the case himself. Rod got the opportunity to interrogate his mother’s killer face-to-face and got the answers for which he had been searching. When Rod was in his twenties, murder came back into his life and resulted in his own brother being convicted and sentenced to life in prison.
Rod and I discussed what makes a killer, which infamous murder case Rod would solve if given the opportunity and so much more. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Rod and cannot wait for season 2 of Murder Chose Me on Investigation Discovery. The first episode of season 2 will air on April 4th, so make sure to tune in!
