We had a big milestone happen recently - not only have we been married for twenty years, but we are also now the proud parents of an adult! Join us today as we discuss our perspective of being parents of children, teenagers, and an adult and how fast we have realized time goes.
We share some of the biggest lessons that we have learned over eighteen years of parenting (some of which is really constant learning), including but not limited to my wish that I had worked less and been more present. We both have realized that we need to slow down and savor even small moments. I also open up about mistakes that I feel that I’ve made, including trying to fix my kids and mold them into who I thought they should be rather than just walk with them.
What’s most important is that we walk with our kids and love them well, but no one is ever going to do that perfectly and without making mistakes. We hope that this episode helps encourage anyone listening who has made mistakes during their parenting journey that it’s never too late to ask for forgiveness and find redemption.
